Maize Crop scorch
Crop damage is never appealing to the eye and in some instances can put you at a financial disadvantage.
Maize crops are often grown after a large application of organic manure has been applied (as part of your fertiliser plan) in which case additional inorganic fertiliser can be wasteful.
Some cases do require additional nitrogen and this may be applied as either a liquid or solid. Ideally it should be Ammonium Nitrate. In most cases some crop damage will occur. This can look quite dramatic but the benefit of fertiliser can and should significantly out-weigh any short term visual effects.
Just one warning, a stressed crop is best not stressed any further – if not absolutely necessary!
