First Combine Rolls
Arriving at a field one can have a single objective in mind such as “the Oil Seed Rape crops that were desiccated earlier must be nearly ready for harvest?”
This became obvious when I went to inspect a crop today. Rubbing out a few pods gave what appeared as seed below 9% moisture with a canopy that looked dry and “crispy.”
Moving on to the next block I find someone else had a similar thought, no more crop only chopped straw and stubble. Closer inspection yields a trailer. Not a bad sample off the combine and a good vantage point from which to view where the work has progressed to.
Now thought’s turn to stubble management, shed seed, volunteers, straw management, home saved seed, slugs, tramline management and soil testing, just to name a few.
